Yesterday I found myself needing to zoom my Visual Studio text editor and was without a mouse (don't ask). Typically I do this by holding down CTRL and scrolling the mouse wheel. I also couldn't figure out how to tab into the area where you can specify your zoom level in the lower left hand corner of the text editor window.
So I guess I have two questions:
Is there a menu setting somewhere that I could have navigated to via the keyboard to set my zoom level?
Even better is there a similar keyboard command to holding CTRL and scrolling the mouse wheel?
In Visual Studio 2013, adjusting zoom only affects the currently opened document. It would be nice if there was a way to set the default zoom level on newly opened documents.

I don't know if there is a menu option, but there are keyboard shortcuts to set the zoom level.
ctrl+shift+. to Zoom In
ctrl+shift+, to Zoom Out

In my case, ReSharper reassigned Ctrl + Shift + , (aka Ctrl + Shift + < ) to ReSharper's Recent Edits command, and I wanted to reset it back to Visual Studio 2012's zoom out.
To do that, go to Tools -> Options. Under Environment -> Keyboard, remove the Ctrl + Shift + , hotkey from the ReSharper.ReSharper_GoToRecentEdits command (or any other commands), and assign the View.ZoomOut command back to Ctrl + Shift + , (use either Global or TextEditor mode).

How do you reset the 'Zoom' in VS 2010 and above back to normal?
CTRL+SCROLL WHEEL lets you zoom in/out with Visual Studio 2010/2012/2013/2015/2017, but I'd like to get back to the initial 100%.

There is a select box for this at the bottom left of the editor window - choose 100% ;)
I was unable to find a keyboard shortcut for it, though zooming in and out can be done using Ctrl + > and Ctrl + <.
Please note the horizontal scroll bar must be turned on to see the zoom level.

Another option (Visual Studio 2013/2015) is to use Ctrl with the mouse wheel (up to zoom in, down to zoom out).

There's a zoom control in the bottom-left of the code editor. You can pick 100% from there, or type it by hand.

Visual Studio 2017 has an extension 'Reset Zoom' by Mads Kristensen and it adds a keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+0, Ctrl+0).https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=MadsKristensen.ResetZoom
By default, the keyboard shortcut is Ctrl+0,Ctrl+0 but can be changed to be whatever you like.
I also have R# and the default shortcut did not show up for me but manually applying it worked.
Go to Tools -> Options -> Environment -> Keyboard and look for the command View.ZoomReset to change the keyboard shortcut.
